Technical Aid for Nottinghamshire Communities is an organisation that assists community groups in developing their built environment.

In 1996 TANC was asked by Nottingham City Council to co-operate with local residents on developing plans for a new use of Sherwood Bus Depot, which had been empty for over a year. The building was a focal point for Sherwood's community, both because of its striking brick facade on Mansfield Road and because of the functional possibilities in respect to its size. The former canteen space in the back of the building had been reserved for community use. Furthermore, Nottingham City Council was keen to hear residents' ideas about new uses for the main warehouse in the front.

The project involved starting up a local action group, assisting the group in deciding on an organisation structure, consulting neighbourhood residents on their ideas for the building (both on an open day and during a couple of weeks afterwards), organising excursions for the action group members to similar redevelopment projects, organising a visioning/design session with residents and City Council architects, and coordinating further development of the plan.
